Being Trauma Informed
If we take a look into history, we can see that humankind is fraught with experiences of trauma. It has become an unavoidable part of the human world and almost a universal experience.
Trauma is often at the root of many issues, yet we often struggle
to see the connection between trauma and the issues many face.
Adjusting our lens to a trauma informed perspective allows us to consider how certain
behaviours and responses can be misunderstood or seen from a deficit perspective,
rather than viewing the response as an attempt to cope with a traumatic situation. We
will look at trauma and its impact, what is a trauma informed approach and then the
core principles of being trauma informed and how to apply these in the work you do.
